Support required from PKC
Dear Editor
I write in response to the letter in a recent PA from the tourist rightly moaning about our town and riverside.
His accurate and succinct observations have caused quite a commotion amongst those who care for our town and wish to improve things.
It’s a good shot in the arm for all those who would be involved and have responsibility for the observed state of affairs.
The Riverside Venture Group set out a plan of desires at a well-attended town hall public meeting in March of this year and subsequently came to some agreements with PKC Greenspace officers.
These included cutting away vegetation to make the river more visible, moving those benches sitting in front of trees and bushes and visually improving the banking from Oakbank Road down to the riverside.
Blairgowrie and Rattray Access Network (BRAN) stepped forward to perform the cutting back of vegetation and we looked forward to PKC keeping their promises. As yet PKC have done nothing. In fact they have backtracked on the level of cutting back initially agreed with BRAN.
So really it is up to PKC to start moving and keep their promises and for the community to get behind the Venture Group plans to at least turn the riverside into a first choice leisure destination.
