\Glenfarg

Maintenance works are scheduled to take place on Drunzie overbridge near Glenfarg next week. This bridge crosses over the M90 trunk road and carries the B996 from Arlary to Glenfarg. The works will involve upgrading the existing safety barriers and bridge parapets and will considerably enhance the safety of the road. Temporary traffic lights will be in place for the duration of the works starting on Monday, September 18 for four weeks. One lane will remain in operation at all times across the bridge. Glenfarg Ladies Curling Club welcomes new members. We are a friendly bunch of ladies, who enjoy curling and although competitive, we are very sociable. If you feel like a new challenge whilst getting fit, with a perfect high intensity sport, come along and join us. Don’t worry if you have no experience or little time we can help on both counts. We started our year with a social event, this year it was a gin tasting evening, where we sampled a range of local artisan gins, and had a catch up after the summer. We are now suitably recovered enough to get back on the ice! I’m sure this social evening will be repeated. We curl at Kinross Curling Rink, a great local facility, mainly in the evening, and the season starts in September and runs through to April, you decide how many games you want to play. Some matches are at the Dewar’s Ice Rink in Perth. During the season, we have both club competitions, friendliest with other clubs and mixed games with the Glenfarg men’s curling club The ice rink, which has been refurbished, has a bar and restaurant on site, so after the game, it’s optional whether you meet in the bar for a drink and chat, great on dark Glenfarg winter nights. “Try curling” sessions are available at Kinross ice rink, on Saturday, September 23 12.15pm, Monday, September 28 at 8.20pm and Saturday, October 14 at 3pm, a great way of finding out if you like curling. The season ends around April, with a dinner and prize giving, when we team up with the Glenfarg men’s club. If you would like to find out more please contact Jean at glenfargladies.curling@gmail.com. And don’t forget, unlike golf, tennis, hill walking, cycling or running, it doesn’t rain on the curling rink. Tabla 2.0 Indian Buffet night, Glenfarg Village Hall on Saturday, September 23 from 7pm, tickets are priced at £20, this includes a welcome drink, available from the shop. Tickets are selling fast. Macmillan Coffee Morning Another great success this year, we raised an amazing £1,300. Thanks to all involved. Pop Up Quiz Our next outing will be on Saturday, September 30 from 7pm. Tickets are priced at £1 each and are available now. Bingo Look out for our future event. Do you enjoy a wee drink? Do you like Bingo? Coming soon… Boozy Bingo! What’s not to love? Please let me know if you would be interested in attending, mcrossey66@gmail.com Tasting A date for your diary, Friday, November 10 Edinburgh Gin will be here for a gin tasting. Tickets will be available from the shop with all proceeds going to Meningitis research.
