Crown haltscase against biker
Prosecutors have decided not to take any further action against a man who was accused of stealing a motorbike from a supermarket car park then driving it dangerously through the city.
Medhzit Rosenov (22) was taken into custody earlier this year after allegedly hopping on the bike in Morrison’s car park in Caledonian Road then speeding through built-up areas, mounting pavements and driving towards oncoming traffic.
Rosenov was also accused of running a number of red lights in the city as well as ignoring traffic directions and even gesticulating and spitting at other road users along the way.
It was further alleged Rosenov was not wearing a helmet the whole time he was driving the bike and that he also had no licence or insurance.
But at Perth Sheriff Court last week it was revealed the Crown’s case against Rosenov was being “deserted pro loco et tempore”.
It means the case against Rosenov has been abandoned for now but the Crown could theoretically restart proceedings against Rosenov at a later date.
A Crown Office spokesperson confirmed: “It is the duty of the Crown to keep cases under review and after full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including new information which came to light, it was decided that there should be no further proceedings taken at this time.
“The Crown reserves the right to re-raise proceedings in future.”
