Eatery’s plan in progress
Post Office site
Planners have approved a proposal which could see Auchterarder’s former Post Office turned into a restaurant.
Perth and Kinross Council has given Glasgow-based company Milano permission to use the old High Street building as a restaurant under delegated powers.
Assessing the application case officer Sean Panton said in his delegated report: “The proposal will form a 40-cover restaurant. Internal alterations are proposed [to] form the kitchen and ancillary facilities.
“Externally the installation of a flue and grille is proposed to the rear. No alterations are proposed to the front elevation.”
Noting just one objection had been received saying there were already “umpteen eateries in Auchterarder” Mr Panton continued: “Although there are fast food and hot food takeaways located in [Auchterarder], it is not considered that the proposed use would result in an over supply of hot food takeaway outlets in the immediate vicinity.
“There are residential flatted properties above the proposed restaurant and there is the potential for noise and odours.
“Conditions are recommended to protect existing residential amenity from noise and odour from the proposed restaurant.”
Mr Panton approved the application subject to a number of conditions including the provision of proper ventilation, limits on noise and restrictions on delivery times .
