Rising Blairgowrie stars in the prizes
Blairgowrie Golf Club’s youth development programme is continuing to reap rewards.
With Bradley Neil, the former Amateur champion currently pushing hard for a European Tour card for next season, eyes are also on younger talent coming through the ranks at the Perthshire club.
Connor Graham, Andrew Wilkie, Cormac Sharpe and Gregor Graham all enjoyed podium positions in the prestigious Loretto Golf Academy Junior Championship and Simmers Cup.
The event was hosted by Craigielaw and featured a strong field of 140 competitors drawn from all over Scotland and England.
Connor came second in the U-11 category, Andrew was runner-up in the U-13 bracket, Cormac won the U-15 category and overall Simmers Cup for scratch score and Cormac and Gregor teamed-up to triumph in the scratch pairs event.
Club managing secretary Steven Morgan congratulated the quartet.
He said:“It wasn’t a bad haul for Blairgowrie Golf Club, with our players enjoying a near clean sweep across the different age groups.
“It is very encouraging, especially since a number of the competitors they were up against are on golf scholarships.
“We have a very active junior membership and the club has been pro-active in encouraging youngsters to take up the sport.
“Connor, Andrew, Cormac and Gregor are doing very well in flying the flag for Blairgowrie and we will be watching their progress in the years ahead.” Gregor Graham, Cormac Sharpe, Connor Graham and Andrew Wilkie captured honours for Blairgowrie Golf Club at Craigielaw
