Statue honours company landmark

-

A steel stag sculpture will take pride of place at Highland Safaris.

In a gesture to mark 25 years of taking tourists to view Perthshire wildlife up close the company has commissioned a three-metre welded steel stag, based on its logo.

The installation leapt off the drawing board with the help of youngsters at The Workshop, Aberfeldy.

The social enterprise teaches wood working, metal working and laser cutting, in addition to business management.

Highland Safaris’Donald Riddell said:“Symbolically the stag represents resilience and strength, which can be said to sum up the Scottish spirit our visitors so admire.”

On Friday the final product will be unveiled at the visitor attraction by Bailey Pearce from Aberfeldy, one of the local youngsters helped by The Workshop.

Bailey was involved in making the prototype models for the stag, using laser cutting. He is now skilled in this technique, though he struggled with mainstream education.
