Five new members were enrolled The Union of Catholic Mothers in Perth celebrated its 70th anniversary with a special Mass service at St John’s Church.

Bishop Stephen Robson, the Bishop of Dunkeld and Father Michael Carrie, diocesan chaplain for the Union of Catholic Mothers, were joined by priests from throughout the diocese who have served at the St John’s Church to celebrate the Mass.

Pauline Porter, the national president of the union and a member of Perth branch, told the congregation:“We owe so much to the many women who have combined family life and prayer to build up to the mothers over so many years.”

Bishop Robson praised the mothers for their dedication and commitment.

He said:“Dunkeld diocese is an area of growth for the Union of Catholic Mothers. We are especially pleased to enrol five new members here today.

“The Union of Catholic Mothers has been the mainstay of many parishes. Its constitution may have needed some tweaking over the years but the concept of motherhood remains the same.”
