Cash support agreed for projects
Rent will be temporarily reduced at the King James VI GC in Perth Several of the region’s common good fund committees have allocated more than £39,000 to a combination of deserving community projects.
The Perth Common Good Fund committee agreed a grant of £15,000 to Perth and Strathearn Round Table for its Pyrotechnic Fireworks Display at a meeting last Wednesday.
Members also rubber stamped a grant of £9500 to Scottish Orchestras and a grant of £1060 to Music in Hospitals.
A grant of £2000 to Perth YMCA was agreed, along with £4000 to Southbank Centre and a grant of £1200 to Jar of Jewels.
The committee agreed to gift £400 to South Perth Community Partnership towards the costs of its fun day and a grant of £1440 towards the costs of the Christmas event which forms part of the Fair City’s Winter Festival.
A grant of £480 to Moncreiffe Tea Dancers was signed-off by the committee, as well as £315 to Wednesday Tea Dance Group and £875 to Phoenix Allstars Cheerleading.
Tulloch Primary School Parent Council was awarded £475, £329 was given to Headway Perth and Kinross and a grant of £756 was awarded to Perth and Kinross Credit Union.
The committee agreed to a one-off proposed rent reduction for one year only – to be applied from November – to King James VI Golf Club on Moncreiffe Island.
The committee agreed consent should be given to allow the variation of the terms of the ground lease to permit alterations to a vacant building on Perth’s Shore Road and a change of use to allow wholesale and retail sale of decorating materials – subject to the would be tenant obtaining all the formal consent required.
The committee allocated funding to the Tay Railway Viaduct steps replacement and awarded the contract to Taziker Industrial Ltd.
Elsewhere in the region, Aberfeldy Common Good Fund committee agreed a grant of £100 to Aberfeldy Festival Committee.
They also agreed a grant of £100 to the Explore Aberfeldy Tourism Group.
The Auchterarder Common Good Fund committee agreed a grant of £150 to an unnamed young person and another grant of £400 to Community School of Auchterarder after-school badminton club.
The Crieff Common Good Fund committee agreed to award a grant of £600 to Crieff in Leaf Association.
The Blairgowrie Common Good Fund committee noted the reinstatement of the town’s BMX track – off Hatton Road in Rattray after concerted fundraising by the community.
