Rannoch artists get an art show on in Aberfeldy

-

Perth’s Tayberry Gallery is excited to be showcasing the wonderful work of artist Anna Wright.

With 10 original artworks, lots of prints, bags, calendars and more, Tayberry’s current Spotlight On exhibition is the biggest collection of Anna Wright’s characterful work to ever grace Perth.

The quirky artist, brought up in rural Dumfriesshire has animals as her main focus and a love for colour, pattern and textiles, which has shaped her work.

Since exploring these influences at Edinburgh College of Art, Anna has grown her trademark style of colour and humour using a mixture of fabric, feathers, pen, ink and paint.

Louise Forbes, Tayberry co-owner, said: “The way Anna uses humour in her drawings really appeals to our customer. Her creativity is exemplary.”

Co-owner Sarah Spalding added: “We are so excited to have 10 original artworks by Anna for this spotlight.

“Anna’s prints are top quality, but when you see these original works of art, the details are incredible. Be sure to come and see them in real life.”

The gallery on Princes Street will show Anna’s work until October 21. Rannoch artists are being given a platform to show off their talents at a new exhibition in Aberfeldy.

At the weekend, The Watermill launched a show by the seven members of AIR (Artists in Rannoch) on the upper floor gallery until January 27.

Formed in 2016, AIR takes ‘Bummeln’, (from the German, “to stroll or ramble”), as a concept to unite the group.

Alexander and Susan Maris explore the role of landscape in cultural history and myth; Alex creating text works and Susan creating luminous tapestries using dyes made from lichen.

Ron Dekker combines both graphic design and photography, reporting that he was particularly influenced by the scientific work based around Rannoch’s famous mountain, Schiehallion.

Julianne Barclay’s oil paintings reflect the interior world of the local cafés.

Rose de Sales La Terrierè works in terracotta and cast bronze, creating human and animal figures.

After researching his family history, Philip MacEachan is motivated to produce acrylic and collage work focusing on the Highland Clearances.

Finally, Anne Benson makes objects from recyclable or sustainable objects, as an antidote to a throw-away society.

The Watermill in Aberfeldy is open Mon-Sat 10am-5pm and Sun 11am5pm.
