Jolomo shows at Strathearn again

-

Christina Bovill One of Scotland’s best loved artists is making a return to the Perthshire gallery which helped to launch his career.

John Lowrie Morrison (known as Jolomo) was driving to the Strathearn Gallery in Crieff in 1996 to deliver paintings when he took the decision to leave his job in education and paint full-time.

Twenty-one years later, he is one of Scotland’s most successful and popular artists - and he’s back at the Strathearn Gallery with an exhibition of new paintings, A Westernlight, which runs until October 22.

John said: “I still remember driving to The Strathearn that day in 1996 with paintings for a group exhibition. It felt like the time had come to make that decision, and it was a good one - I haven’t looked back.”

Talking about the new work in A Westernlight, he said: “These paintings are a little bit moody. I think morning and, in particular, evening light are coming to the fore in my work.” Strathearn Gallery owners, Scott and Susan Bennett, said they were delighted to welcome Jolomo back.
