Charlie finds fame on fiddle

-

Hands Up for Trad has decided to highlight an emerging Perthshire musical talent.

While comedy icon Billy Connolly gains a place in the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame, Glenfarg’s fiddle force Charlie Stewart is among those being honoured at the event on October 27 at Glasgow’s Òran Mór.

Charlie Stewart was named BBC Young Trad Musician of the Year, 2017 and he will be at the event for his performances with the trio, Snuffbox.

‘Playing for Free’ by Snuffbox is on Album of the Year longlist for this year’s Trad Awards.

Event founder and promoter, Simon Thoumire, said: “Each year we honour a uniquely inspiring group of people and this year’s list shows the talent in Scotland.”
