Art friends over the moon
The lifelong friendship between the iconic architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the influential British artist JD Fergusson is being celebrated in a new Perth exhibition.
The story of the fascinating relationship between Charles Rennie Mackintosh and JD Fergusson is detailed in a new free show at Perth’s Fergusson Gallery.
The gallery ( open Tuesdays to Sundays) houses most of Fergusson’s work, who had ancestral links to Perthshire.
Pieces from the JD Fergusson archives, together with works by Mackintosh on loan from Glasgow School of Art, detail the By Charles Rennie Mackintosh relationship in The Artist and The Architect, which runs to January 29.
Featured works include Mackintosh’s watercolour The Harvest Moon (pictured) and Fergusson’s wooden sculpture, Dryad, inspired by a plant given to him by Mackintosh.
