Helpon offerfor teensin families

- Rachel Clark

A number of events have been planned for children who are about to become teenagers.

The strengthening families programme will be offering free evening sessions over seven weeks across Perth and Kinross to support young people and their families.

These workshops, aimed at families with 10-year-olds, will focus on improving family relationships, and preventing issues such as poor emotional wellbeing and misusing drugs and alcohol.

Workshops will run on a Wednesday from November 1 until December 13 from 5pm at the Glenearn Community Campus, and on Wednesdays from October 25 until December 13 from 5pm at the North Inch Community Campus.

A third block of sessions will also run on Thursdays from October 26 until December 6 from 5pm at Goodlyburn Primary School.

Each session will include a free meal and free childcare and play activities for younger siblings, and transport can be arranged for families wanting to attend the strengthening families workshops.

A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council said: “The sessions are designed for both young people and their parents and carers, and over the course of the programme, families will develop a better understanding of each other’s strengths and qualities.”
