Nicola’s all set to WOW the crowds
this month The Women of the World festival takes place later Pic: Fraser Band Photography Scotland’s First Minister is to headline the launch of the Women of the World Festival in Perth this month.
Nicola Sturgeon will take to the stage in Perth Concert Hall from 7.30pm on Friday, October 27, with Jude Kelly, the festival’s founder, to mark the opening night of the Women of the World (WOW)’s first event in Scotland.
WOW is a global festival celebrating women and girls all over the world through talks, debates, music, activism, mentoring and performance, with this month’s Perth festival the first to be staged in Scotland.
Ms Sturgeon will talk about a range of important issues for women and girls in Scotland today, including gender equality, what drives her, women who inspire her, and other topics.
She will then take questions

The SNP leader said:“I’m extremely proud to be opening the first WOW festival in Scotland. Events such as WOW are extremely important. They help to open up the debate about gender parity, how we can accelerate progress, overcome the obstacles facing women today and how we can deliver an age of true equality.
“Achieving this is my priority as First Minister, but it is an important task for all of us.
“I look forward to an evening of great discussion celebrating and recognising the many achievements of women and girls.”
The packed WOW weekend will feature a host of other prominent female figures, including Val McDermid, Kirsty Wark, Luisa Omielan, Lesley Riddoch and Tasmina AhmedSheikh from Friday, October 27, until Sunday, October 29.
