PKC to rule on 159 homes bid
Scheme is for Oudenarde houses
Plans for developing Oudenarde near Bridge of Earn are expected to take a step forward this week.
Councillors will be asked to approve phase two of proposals for the Oudenarde village at a meeting of the newly re-named planning and development management committee on Wednesday.
Should plans be approved at the meeting, it would see 159 new houses along with a range of outdoor spaces created in Oudenarde, north of the A912.
The dwellings, which were granted in principal planning permission back in October 2002, will include a range of two to five-bedroom houses and bungalows and are to be built by Taylor Wimpey and GS Brown.
A total of 150 affordable homes, provided by Hillcrest Housing Association, have already been approved by the council’s planning officers for the same location.
It is hoped this new development will create around 650 new construction jobs in the area, and the report adds they expect almost an extra £330,000 to be spent in the local economy from this new village.
The development, which would need to begin within two years of being approved, would see a number of outdoor spaces including play parks and sports fields built, as well as a range of new cycling and walking paths.
It would also need to see a new road bridge over the railway line put in place before the 100th house is built.
Planning permission to build a new primary school at Oudenarde has also already been granted.
Anne Condliffe, interim development quality manager at Perth and Kinross Council, said: “Residential development at Oudenarde is a committed development site and allocated in both the Scottish development plan and the local development plan.
“This phase and the overall site will provide a significant contribution toward meeting projected population growth of Perth and Kinross. The proposed development is therefore considered to accord with the development plan.”
