YMCA Perth on self-development project
Perth and District YMCA, in partnership with Perth College UHI and Perth and Kinross Council, has described itself as proud to facilitate the‘Team Programme’for young people from throughout the region.
The 12-week personal development programme gives people aged 16 to 25, a wide variety of experiences, skills and qualifications to prepare them for their next steps in life.
The programme aims to re-engage young people, helping them to think about their future and develop their potential and in many cases it changes their lives.
Police Scotland is working in partnership with the YMCA locally to jointly deliver the opportunity.
The group of young people started their 12 week selfdevelopment programme with Barry Davidson, YMCA team leader and Constable Gavin Munro on Monday, October 2.
Chief Inspector Ian Scott, local area commander for Perth, said: “I welcome the opportunity for police officers to work in conjunction with the YMCA in Perth to help make a positive difference to the lives of young people.”
Partnership inspector Suzanne Smith said:“Working with the YMCA to deliver the Team Programme is an excellent opportunity for us to break down barriers between police and young people.
“Furthermore it will allow us the opportunity to support the young people to identify and take part in a community project whilst they build upon their skill set and consider their options for the future.
Mr Davidson said:“Delivering the Team Programme in partnership with Police Scotland will further support the work of the YMCA and Prince’s Trust programme by encouraging positive relationships between young people and the police.”
