Live Active Leisure’s (LAL) annual achievement report for the period April 2016 to March 2017 has been released.

And the findings include strong results in both environmental governance and community involvement.

Jim Moyes, CEO of Live Active Leisure, said:“As the 13th largest employer in the area with an annual turnover of c£10million, LAL is an integral part of both community and corporate life in Perth and Kinross.

“There is an ever-growing awareness of the contribution active lifestyles can make in improving people’s physical and mental health.

“We are well placed to help meet this demand, together with our volunteer board members, partners and the exceptional 600 strong team.

“We are driven by our promise to deliver to our customers, partners, volunteers, sponsors and sole member shareholder, PKC.”

The report released shows that LAL venues were host to almost 30,000 unique customers who enjoyed over 1.3 million activities from the mix of gym, swim, classes and children’s holiday camps.

There was £110K of discounted memberships and access for customers in this demographic, as well as £95K of free swimming for under-fives and £130K of discounted admission for under 16s and over 65s.

Environmentally, some 10,000 cubic meters of water and over two million KwH of gas were saved with electricity consumption reducing to bring LAL to one million KwH saved over four years.

Added to this, a new approach to recycling has diverted 85 per cent of waste from landfill.

Mr Moyes said:“I’m extremely pleased with these encouraging results, but know that the company cannot afford to rest on its laurels.

“Ageing buildings mean plans such as the development of the PH2O project at the Leisure Pool and Dewars site, and the recovering of the famous Bell’s Sports Centre Main Arena Dome, are ever more important as we look towards the future and challenging economic climate ahead.”
