Motorway roadworks at key Kinross junction are set to begin next week
Roadworks are set to take place on the M90 between Gairneybridge and Kinross, starting next week.
A £290,000 investment will see a new phase of work carried out over a 500 metre stretch of the northbound concrete carriageway on the M90.
From Monday, October 23, maintenance work on the M90 northbound carriageway between Junction 5, Gairneybridge, and Junction 6, Kinross, will be carried out over eight days to repair and improve the route.
During the improvements traffic management will be in place for the safety of the workforce and for motorists. A contraflow system on the main M90 will be in operation continuously throughout the work to allow for the carriageway repairs to take place. A 50mph speed limit will also be in place for safety reasons until the work is completed.
Preliminary work will take place from Saturday, October 21, to prepare for the traffic management arrangements ahead of the project beginning on Monday.
The work will be carried out by BEAR Scotland and has been planned in consultation with Police Scotland, Perth and Kinross Council and Transport Scotland.
Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said:“This £290,000 investment from Transport Scotland will allow us to carry out maintenance works to ensure our network continues to operate at the highest standard.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible. We encourage motorists to plan their journey in advance and check the Traffic Scotland website.”
