Work order to be done after release

-

A Perth man who threw a woman to the ground has been told to complete his community service for the offence once he is released from jail.

Stefan Scott (24), who appeared at Perth Sheriff Court this week from custody for other offences, had asked to amend his community payback order for the assault on the woman earlier this year.

He previously admitted seizing the woman, placing his hand over her mouth then throwing her to the ground at an address in the city’s William Street on January 6.

The former Rannoch Road resident also admitted behaving in a threatening/abusive manner, repeatedly refusing to leave the property when asked to do so and throwing a beer can on the floor.

Scott’s solicitor David Holmes told Perth Sheriff Court on Tuesday his client had managed to complete 73 of the 120 hours of community service he was sentenced to for the assault earlier this year before he was jailed for other offences.

Mr Holmes asked if more time could be added to Scott’s prison sentence to make up for the hours he had failed to complete or if more time could be granted for Scott to complete his community sentence.

After learning Scott is due to be released in March next year, Sheriff William Wood opted for the latter option.

Scott will now have until August 31 next year to complete his 100 hours of community service.
