Remembranc­e A Remembranc­e service will be held at the Abbey church on Sunday, November 12, at 10.45am. This will be followed at noon by a parade, led by Coupar Angus Pipe Band from the Cross to the war memorial at Coupar Angus Primary School, where there will be a short service by Rev Andy Gray. Coupar Angus and Bendochy community council and local councillor­s will lay wreaths. Organisers want as many people as possible to represent local groups and veterans at the service.

Bowling club The lotto numbers this week were 7, 9, 10 and 12. There were no winners, next week’s prize money is £2000.

St Martins Church Rev Alan Livingston­e will lead the service this Sunday, at 9.30am in St Martins church with communion celebrated during the service. All will be made welcome as well as any visitors who wish to join them. The kirk session are holding a coffee morning tomorrow, from 10am to 12 noon, in Burnside halls. Admission costs £3 and there will also be a prize draw. The U3A Ukulele group will entertain at a social evening in Guildtown hall on Friday, October 27, at 7pm. Admission £3 (includes refreshmen­ts) and there will be a prize draw for which donations would be appreciate­d.

Guild The Guild’s first meeting of the new session was held in the hall on Thursday, with speaker Andy Patterson on his topic of stars of the silver screen. The group’s autumn council meeting was held in Caputh church on Wednesday of this week.

This is an easy walk from Ravenscrai­g car park, following the coastal path to West Wemyss and returning the same way. Ochil Short Walks The next trek will be on Tuesday, October 24, to Blairhill, Rumbling Bridge and the Crook of Devon. This is a walk around the Blairhill area of the Rumbling Bridge, through the gorge, past the new weir (part of the community hydro scheme) and along the River Devon to the Crook. Bonus ball The winner of last week’s TICC bonus ball was Lily Doig on no 42. Coffee morning The United Reformed Church are holding their coffee morning tomorrow in the TICC at 10am. All welcome. TICC auction Viewing for the auction will take place tomorrow, from 2pm to 4pm, and from noon on Sunday, with the auction starting at 2pm. Refreshmen­ts will be available on both days. History group The next meeting of Newburgh History Group and Friends of the the Laing will be held on Monday, October 23, at 7pm in the Lower Laing. David Strachan, manager at Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust will talk about recent excavation­s at Abernethy Hillfort. All welcome. Light refreshmen­ts will be available and a small admission charge will be taken on the day. The Friends of the Laing have a new display of photograph­s and articles on Newburgh’s social, industrial and town history. A Trip Down Memory Lane will be held in the Lower Laing. The event is open from 12 noon to 4pm on Sundays and Wednesdays. The Laing Museum upstairs is also open on Wednesday afternoons. Whinnybank Cat Sanctuary A brindle tortoisesh­ell female cat called Buster came in to the sanctuary from Glenrothes last week. The cat was found at the B&M shop in a sorry state, wet through and hungry. A shop worker took her home and Sue collected her from there. She was not microchipp­ed but her owner spotted her on the Scotland Lost and Found website and she was happily reunited after being missing for a month. Sue was recently called out to a mother cat and her four kittens in Kirkcaldy, who had them in a tent made of branches and pine needles. They are fluffy and will be cared for by a fosterer until they are ready to be homed. Parkhill Farm near Newburgh is taking on two of Whinnybank’s feral cats. The farm is over-run with mice and they will have a great life there. St Madoes

St Madoes and Kinfauns Parish Church Morning worship on Sunday is at 10.30am in the Madoch centre. On Sunday afternoon, from 3.30pm, Discoverin­g God through ordinary things will be held in the Madoch centre, or online at sanctuaryf­irst. org.uk/live. Everyone is welcome to this fun, interactiv­e, family service to explore the importance of community. The service will look at three everyday objects which are usually taken for granted but people would often be lost without. Snack group meets on Tuesdays, from 1.30pm at the centre.
