Scougall impresses the boss

-

Tommy Wright reckons Stefan Scougall is improving with every game. And the St Johnstone manager has backed the midfielder to get better in the coming weeks.

Scougall signed at McDiarmid Park in the summer and Wright said:“I thought it was Stefan’s best 90 minutes against Rangers, he looked a real threat.

“A couple of his crosses were unlucky and he missed out on that final ball. He has settled in really well and we are now seeing what a good player he is.

“He maybe just needs a little bit more composure in front of goal and in the last third. He is a great lad and I’m expecting big things.

“It’s the first time in a while he has had a consistent run in a team which will help. I’ve been pleased with what he has done and I think he’s getting better and better.”

Playing at Murrayfield – the home of Scottish rugby – will be a new experience for Saints and boss Wright this weekend.

Opponents Hearts are awaiting the completion of their stadium upgrade in Gorgie.

“I’ve never been to Murrayfield so I’m looking forward to it,”Wright said. “Apparently the pitch is very good and is a little longer than Tynecastle.

“It’s one of the hybrid pitches but I don’t think it will play any different to a grass pitch.

“There will a decent atmosphere – but it will only be a good experience for us if we pick up three points.”

Blair Alston and Michael O’Halloran are expected to come back into the Perth squad for the trip to the capital – and Brian Easton should also be fit.
