The McDiarmid Park boss was in charge of his 200th game for the club and decided to take an aerial view due to an injured knee.
While Saints halted a run of disappointing defeats, it is now four consecutive games and 366 frustrating minutes without a goal.
Midfielder Murray Davidson was not hiding away from the fact that finding the net is an issue, but he knows it’s a blip.
“The final ball has not been there and we’re maybe missing a little bit of luck,” he said. “It’s obvious we are struggling in front of goal. We believe if we keep doing what we’re doing then it will turn eventually.
“We feel we are getting in good areas and are not far away.
“It’s maybe the wrong decision at the wrong time. We have been working hard in training and will continue to do that until it changes.
“I thought we were better but it is just not going for us in front of goal. We created a couple of good chances. I’ve had a header which is inches wide and then Paul Paton has a header. It’s not breaking for us.”
Boss Wright made five changes with Zander Clark, Blair Alston, Steven Anderson, Paul Paton and Davidson all returning. Joe Shaughnessy was captaining the side for the first time after being handed the armband earlier in the week.
