Perth pool revamp getting under way Repairs to be carried out to wall on Live Active Leisure site

- Rachel Clark

A £250,000 upgrade of Perth Leisure Pool got under way yesterday.

The week-long series of improvements will mean the entire pool will close, including the cafe, health spa and gym.

Live Active Leisure, which runs the key local sports facility, is adding music and lights to the flumes, as well as installing speed timers so people can compete against each other in the race to the pool at the bottom.

The sauna cabin in the health spa and the floor in the children’s Monkey Jungle pool will also be replaced during the makeover.

The pool’s cafe is also set to get a facelift, including new tables and chairs.

It comes following the ongoing introduction of pay-on-foot machines and entrance and exit barriers at the site’s Glover Street car park.

And in addition to the scheduled work – set to be completed by November 6 – the pool’s walkway will also be shut to the public

Perth Leisure Pool between the swimming pool’s main Active Leisure, said they made the entrance and Glasgow Road all decision to carry out the repairs week after repairs were identified to the wall because the pool was at the top of the pool’s wall. already planned to shut this week

Karen Nicol, a business planning for upgrades. and marketing manager at Live She explained: “This was not part of the initial improvement works, however some repairs needed to happen at the top of the building.

“We thought it would be advantageous to do this while the venue was closed, and so we shut off the walkway for safety issues while the wall is being repaired.”

There will also be new swipe entry turnstiles and self-service cashless kiosks for booking and paying to help reduce queues at the reception, and the cafe overlooking the pool will also get a makeover with new tables and chairs.

As well as these upgrades, the pool will also get a deep clean and have essential maintenance works such as replacing tiles and blinds throughout the week’s closure.

Karen added: “We are carrying out a number of improvements to the venue, and we are looking forward to welcoming customers back on Monday.

“Repairs needed done to the wall, and the building is closed, so it made sense to do them both this week.”

Gym classes normally at the pool have been moved to the Fair City’s Rodney gym and Bell’s Sports Centre. All Perth swimming lessons for this week have been cancelled

Live Active said all those wanting to use a pool this week can visit facilities in Kinross, Blairgowrie and Crieff.
