Shoppers across Perth will be able to take a step inside the brand new Beales department store when it officially opens its doors later this week.

The Bournemouthbased department store is looking forward to welcoming the people of Perth into its very first Scottish outlet, with a grand opening planned for Thursday, November 2, from 9.30am.

And Beales yesterday announced new Perth-based company Relish Scotland is set to take over the department store’s restaurant, promising freshly cooked produce every day.

Describing the restaurant as“shabby chic”Tony Brown, CEO of Beales, said the whole team was excited about the new restaurant. Beales CEO Tony Brown

He said:“It will be very traditional department store food cooked on the premises - they have a chef doing fresh cooking every day.

“We are excited as this is a new concept for us. They will do all the food and are running the restaurant, but we set the ambience. So we will have a library at one end with soft seating, so very traditional, comfortable different levels of seating all the way through from casual to more formal.”

Men’s and women’s wear, homeware and a toy department are all included at the revamped former McEwens of Perth premises

At Thursday’s grand opening, the first 50 people through the door will receive an exclusive £10 gift voucher, and Beales will be holding a range of opening offers as well.

Beales was determined to open their new store in time for Christmas shopping, after announcing it had bought over the main building in September, after the iconic Perth brand went out of business last year.

The Beales takeover has already provided 40 new jobs.
