Kinross student wins top contest
Kinross model Carla Megginson A Kinross student is set to become the face of a Scottish shopping mall after winning a modelling competition.
Carla Megginson (20) will now be a regular sight at The Centre in Livingston for the rest of the year after winning the ‘Face of The Centre’ competition.
Entries for the modelling prize came in from all over Scotland.
However the professional judges said the former Kinross High School pupil’s striking looks made her a front-runner for the top prize from the early stages.
As part of the prize, Carla won a £250 gift card, a selection of outfits from the photo shoot, and a year’s modelling contract with Superior Model Management.
She said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be chosen as the face of The Centre - it was completely unexpected as I’ve never done anything like this before.
“My cousin told me to enter the competition but I honestly didn’t think I’d be in with a chance of winning.
“Taking part in the photo shoot was so exciting and I’m really looking forward to working with Superior Model Management for the next 12 months.”
Carla, who is currently studying business management with accounting at Edinburgh Napier University, has never modelled before.
But she impressed the judges with her natural looks and tall stature – measuring in at 5’ 10’’ in height.
She will now be unveiled as the front page model in The Centre’s first magazine, and will be featured on billboards in the shopping centre and on its website.
Ashley Bisland, deputy centre director of mall, said: “It gives us great pleasure to announce Carla as the winner of our ‘face of the centre’ competition.
“We were overwhelmed by the number of entries, which made judging very difficult, however Carla’s fresh. stylish look caught our attention and was exactly what we were looking for.”
She added: “She was such a natural in front of the camera and seemed to enjoy every minute of the fashion shoot.
“We’re absolutely delighted and honoured to have her on board to help us launch our new autumn/winter campaign in style.”
