Exploring autumn in Aberfeldy

- Melanie Bonn

October TayFest, a council-backed effort to promote the Aberfeldy and Loch Tay area is celebrating 2017 being its most successful year yet.

It included more than 30 events over the course of the festival week, with nine of those having sold out.

Run annually for four years, the programme aims to increase autumn tourism footfall.

Events earlier this month ranged from outdoor activities to ghost walks, kids cookery to concerts and films.

“With archaeology walks, Loch Tay Safaris and a little Winnie the Pooh on at the Birks Cinema, there was something to delight everyone, young and old,” explained organiser Kirsty Gowans.

“October Tayfest really does have events for all; locals and visitors alike and in conjunction with our local tourism group Explore Aberfeldy we are delighted at the success of October Tayfest.”

Richard‘Biscuit’Turner from Wee Adventures took children out to climb Weem Rock. He said“We are delighted to have had 76 children, aged between five and 12, adventuring outdoors with us over TayFest, learning new skills, making new friends and most of all, having lots of fun!

“The October TayFest is a fantastic opportunity for families and children to try new activities and explore the many fabulous things the Aberfeldy area has to offer.

“Our activity sessions sold out in advance, so the best advice for next year is to book visit to the October TayFest as early as possible.”
