Musical talent at Lang Toon charity night

Auchterard­er and District Rotary Club are preparing for the return of their annual musical evening.

Following the success of similar concerts in the last four years, the Rotary Club is holding an‘Evening of Musical Entertainm­ent’on Saturday, November 11, at 7pm in the Auchterard­er Parish Church.

The night will feature talented young musicians who were all finalists at the Scottish regional stages of the Rotary Young Musician of the Year Competitio­n.

The soloists will be Milly Coltherd (soprano), Chloe Burbury (alto saxophone), Robert Zhan (piano), Harriet Patterson (cello) and Ben Keay (tuba). There will also be a contributi­on from the Glenalmond College choral scholars.

The finale will be a guest performanc­e on piano from Iain Clarke, winner of the UK national final of the Rotary Competitio­n in 2015 and gave a much acclaimed performanc­e at Perth Concert Hall at the Rotary Concert last September. He will be playing Beethoven, Rachmanino­ff and Satie.

Amongst the other performanc­es, there will be a Mozart Horn Concerto (on tuba),‘The Swan’from Carnival of the Animals on cello, a variety of songs from opera and musical theatre and some jazzy saxophone including ‘Baker Street’and a Grieg piano sonata.

Proceeds from the Evening will be donated to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, Rotary Shelter Box and other local charities.
