Plied girl with drink and drugs

- Court Reporter

Stephen Hamilton A man who plied a teenager less than half his age with drink and drugs - and then coerced her into performing sex acts on him - will have to wait until the end of the month to discover his fate.

Stephen Hamilton, now 58, of Stronachie House, Forgandenny, was to have been sentenced at Perth Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

But that has now been delayed to allow the prosecution to carry out further investigations.

He pled guilty earlier to a historic charge of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards the girl on various occasions between September, 1996, and September, 1997.

He was 35 and she was just 15 at the time he started preying on her.

The indecent acts took place at various farm roads near his home, at Dunblane Hydro Hotel and a bed and breakfast in Perth’s Marshall Place.

The court heard that he would often take his victim out in his car then park on rural roads.

He began by kissing and touching her inappropriately before he was able to persuade her to perform more intimate acts on him.

Depute Fiscal Tina Dickie said Hamilton would regularly ply her with alcohol and cannabis when he took her out to make her more susceptible to his inappropriate advances.

“She did not want to carry out these acts but the accused would persuade her,”she told the court.

“He told her‘this is what you do when you are in a relationship.’”

She was too frightened to tell him to stop.

The teenager kept quiet about the liaisons for almost two decades before confiding in her partner in 2015.

The police were then alerted and that led to the divorced marketing manager being charged.

Hamilton has already been placed on the Sex Offenders’Register and will be sentenced on November 29.

His bail was continued meantime.
