My bro Brad has true grit

-

Bradley Neil showed grit and determination in abundance to book the golden ticket for the European Tour.

But displaying that positive attitude in the Challenge Tour’s grand final came as no surprise to proud older brother Connor.

From an early age Connor noticed Bradley’s desire to succeed, whether on the national stage or competing in competition at Blairgowrie.

He said:“I remember playing him in the club championship at Blairgowrie and he was four down with eight to play. He upped his game and I caved to lose the match on the first extra hole.

“He has always had that grit and determination - and a never give up attitude. From the tail end of last year he has really kicked on and he has gone from strength to strength.

“This year there was the feeling he could go on and win a tournament. I don’t really get carried away. Bradley can only do what he does and it’s all him.

“There will be younger guys looking up to him and I imagine every junior at the club will probably say they want to be like Bradley. That sounds quite cheesy and it can be difficult to believe that it is your brother in that position.

“I certainly won’t be treating him differently because he will always be my brother.

“He has proved himself on the Challenge Tour, now I’m looking forward to watching him on the EuropeanTour.”

Connor was in the tricky position of being at work when Bradley was battling to clinch his card in Oman.

He said:“We were getting texts from some people saying he was going to make it and then others who said he wasn’t.

“When we did get the call I was chuffed. I had two hours left of work and I didn’t really want to be sitting there.

“He gave me a little text when it was confirmed that he had done it.

“But I didn’t speak much to him because of the time difference and the fact he jumped on a plane to come home straight after.

“Bradley has got a good support network and he always has his friends and family to come home to. I know how much this means to him.”
