On to a winner with Silent Auction prize

Visit renowned yard

- Staff Reporter

Chance to visit Lucinda Russell’s yard at Milnathort Perth Silent Auction won’t go under starter’s order until early December but Lucinda Russell and Geoff Brown know a winner when they see one.

The Grand National winning trainer and Big County businessman have teamed up to donate an exclusive package which you can bet is sure to attract a strong field of bidders.

The GS Brown Construction and former St Johnstone chairman was delighted to learn the Kinfauns Stables Riding for the Disabled facility would be among beneficiaries of this year’s Silent Auction.

And Geoff contacted Lucinda to create a special lot which is perfect for anyone who appreciates the grace and beauty of racehorses.

A party of six will have a rare chance to visit Lucinda and Peter Scudamore’s Arlary Yard at Milnathort for a morning on the gallops, where last year’s Grand National winner One For Arthur was prepared for victory over the Aintree fences.

It’s an opportunity for a group to watch around 50 horses go through their paces any morning from a Tuesday to Saturday.

They will get a chance to tour the stables, enjoy refreshments and chat with jockeys behind the scenes at one of the country’s top yards.

The Arlary team use a range of facilities for stamina, strength and speed work as they train potential champions.

Since 2006, the area’s favourite fundraiser – a joint venture between the Perthshire Advertiser and the Rotary Club of Perth – has generated more than £270,000 for good causes at home and abroad.

This year, the major beneficiaries will be the Cornhill Macmillan Centre at Perth Royal Infirmary, Kinfauns Stables Riding for the Disabled and The Archie Foundation Tayside Appeal.
