Fined for tussle with police pair
A drunken Perthshire man who struggled with police after verbally abusing them was fined £400 at Perth Sheriff Court.
Neil Hutton (53), formerly of Airlie View, Alyth, admitted resisting two officers at a house in Brodie’s Yard, Coupar Angus, on November 27 last year.
Depute fiscal Carol Whyte said that police were asked to attend a domestic incident at the property. When they arrived, he began to struggle and shouted and swore at them.
“There was a short struggle and he was put to the floor where handcuffs were applied.”
Solicitor Paul Ralph said the accused had spent a weekend in the police cells as a result of his behaviour.
He had been on a night out with his partner and in her own words they were “fair gone”.
The couple were now back together.
Imposing the fine, payable at £15 a week, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told Hutton:“I’m not having people struggle with police officers.”
