Deal is scrum-thing spe­cial as pub backs Perthshire rugby

Shire play­ers are thrilled with the new deal Busi­ness­man John Bry­den (cen­tre) is back­ing Shire this sea­son A Perth pub is rais­ing a glass in a show of sup­port to Perthshire RFC.

The Tav­ern on South Street has teamed-up with the Ea­gles and will now act as the club’s main spon­sor.

Along with sis­ter brands That Bar and Ro­ca­blu, the Fair City hostelry will also host the North Inch-based squad’s so­cial and fundrais­ing events.

Perthshire RFC chief ex­ec­u­tive Al­lan Brown said:“We’re de­lighted that the Tav­ern has part­nered with our club as a main spon­sor.

“The spon­sor­ship con­tri­bu­tion will help fi­nance our on­go­ing rugby ac­tiv­ity en­abling our boys, girls and young peo­ple in our com­mu­nity to par­tic­i­pate in rugby and fit­ness.

“We’re grate­ful for the spon­sor­ship do­na­tion and we look for­ward to work­ing with John, Craig and their team on our so­cial and fundrais­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties.”

Busi­ness owner John Bry­den said:“My team is very pleased to be Perthshire RFC’s main spon­sor.

“We’ve been very im­pressed with the club and the qual­ity of coach­ing pro­vided to young peo­ple ev­ery Sun­day on the North Inch.

“We wish to ex­tend a warm wel­come to play­ers, mem­bers, sup­port­ers and fam­i­lies.”

To cel­e­brate the kick-off of the part­ner­ship, rugby fans are in­vited to watch Scot­land tackle New Zealand in That Bar on Sat­ur­day.

The South Street venue will open from noon and fol­lows on from the na­tional side’s Mur­ray­field match against Samoa be­ing shown.

Al­lan added:“The part­ner­ship has been warmly wel­comed by our mem­bers and we look for­ward to the op­por­tu­nity to get to­gether, watch some great rugby and sup­port the new ar­range­ment.”
