A massive day of Scotlandproud events is planned for the centre of Perth on Sunday.

The Perth St Andrew’s Day Scottish Festival will celebrate Scotland’s national day in the Fair City, with stalls in King Edward Street creating the ‘Scotland Street Marketplace’ and a whole lot of bands giving free entertainment from noon-5pm, hosted by broadcaster Grant Stott.

There will be a huge variety of stalls from across the country displaying some of the best food and crafts in the land.

As well as tempting food and drink, there will be music coming from an outdoor covered stage near City Hall.

The local duo the Mad Ferret Band has the first half hour live music slot beginning at 12.10pm.

Music from the Voice winner 2015 and fireman, Stevie McCrorie starts just before 1pm and then an appearance by the Scottish/ Cajun ceilidh band, the Big Shoogle is at 1.40pm.

Expect reels and jigs with cajun, zydeco, rockabilly, swing and rock to warm everybody up.

The Rod Stewart Songbook, with songs everyone knows, will be performing at 2.45pm.

Then as a lively headline act, Scotland’s number one bagrockers, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers will take the stage at 4pm.

Rightly for a St Andrew’s Day celebration, pipers from Perthshire will be heard loud and clear in the lead up to a speech by the Provost.

Perth and District Pipe Band and Vale of Atholl Pipe Band arrive at 4.50pm with great fanfare, as the Provost of Perth and Kinross steps up to address the city crowds and the pipers bring things to a close with a grand finale after Dennis Melloy has spoken.
