Coupar Angus

Abbey Church Rosemary Patterson led the services at Bendochy and Coupar Angus Abbey on Sunday. Her message was everything is possible for those who believe. At the Abbey the service began with a message from Psalm 34 and the introit by the choir, I know who holds the future. Bible readings were from Job chapter two, verses 3 to 10 and Mark chapter nine, verses 14 to 29. After singing hymn 544, Open my eyes that I might see, Rosemary spoke about how easy it was to praise God when things are going well. But as life is not always that favourable, faith can move mountains when prayers were not answered. She explained that people are not privy to the bigger picture, God is not required to explain himself. Even Job had difficulties with this. Our lives do matter and we cannot know the mysteries of life. Having faith and accepting the bad with the good helps us to get on with the future. God gives countless reasons for optimism and people should do their best with whatever life throws at them. The service ended with the rousing hymn How Great Thou Art. Music played by organist Austin Wilkie was Ein Madchen Oder Weibchen from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Waltz in G by Bedrich Smetana and La Mourisque by C Tylman Susato. Silent Auction The auction is being held at the Red House Hotel on Friday, November 24, at 7pm to raise funds towards the cost of installing a new heating system in the Abbey.
