Prize night at the Hill

Athole McDonald presents Alan Wilson with his trophy For the first time ever the final of the Craigie Hill gents scratch championsh­ip pitted father against son.

Nine-times Hill champion Malcolm Davidson faced 20-year-old Sean, who secured victory on the final green of the 36 holes.

Sean collected the silverware at the club’s annual prizegivin­g from local journalist Gordon Bannerman and Alps Tour profession­al Danny Young, with dad Malcolm picking up a series of trophies after another successful campaign.

Club captain Athole McDonald said:

“Members are wondering if there are any other examples of a father and son competing in the final of a club scratch championsh­ip in Scotland.”

Winner of the ladies scratch competitio­n was Carol Muir and Patricia Coburn won the handicap title.

Chris Mitchell won the Sir Stanley Norie-Miller Tray and autumn meeting and seniors scratch champion Alan Wilson received the Robin Duncan Trophy.
