Coupar Angus like tag of underdogs

-

Swifts striker Robbie Holden is out to sink Tranent on Saturday The underdog tag suits Coupar Angus reckons manager Logan McConachie – because his players thrive on it.

And this weekend the east Perthshire side will look to spring a shock on Arthurlie who play in the West Region Super League Premier Division.

McConachie is calling on his players to make amends for last week’s disappointing 6-0 league defeat away at Arbroath Vics.

“The lads have a lot of making up to do,”McConachie told the Perthshire Advertiser.

“With the greatest of respect to Arbroath Vics, our club should never be beaten as badly as that or putting in a performance of that level.

“We know we’re underdogs for Saturday and the way that the results have gone this season, I definitely think that is a positive.

“We’ve been performing really well in the games that we’re expected to lose. But in the games we’re expected to come out winners, we have been really disappointing.

“We’re looking to turn around this trend because we’ve got bags of ability at Coupar Angus.”

McConachie believes Arthurlie, who drew 1-1 with Girvan last Saturday, do have weaknesses that can be exploited.

“We’ve done a bit of watching on Arthurlie and they look a strong outfit,”he said.

“They have a fair number attending their matches on a weekly basis too which is always a good indicator of their level of football.

“They have some weaknesses though and I’m confident that on our day anything can happen and we can be capable of pulling off a result.

“The squad we’re going with will 100 per cent be ready to compete and I can assure everyone attending the match we’ll battle until the end.”
