Accused ofattack withaxe

A Perthshire woman has been accused of attacking a man in Rattray with an axe in the runup to last Christmas.

Sixty-year-old Joy Thomson, of Whiteloch Avenue, Blairgowrie, also denied a catalogue of charges alleging that she had weapons including knives, a carving fork, pepper spray - and sprayers containing sulphuric acid - in her possession.

Thomson denied a fivecharge indictment when she appeared at Perth Sheriff Court. She is set to face trial before a jury during the week beginning February 26 next year.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place at Bramblebank House, Balmoral Road, Rattray, on December 23 and 24, 2016.

She is said to have assaulted Thomas Thomson by striking him on the head with the axe - and brandished a knife at him - on December 23.

A second charge claims that she had three knives, as well as the axe and a carving fork, in her possession. A third charge also states that she had a knife in her possession.

On December 23 and 24, again at Bramblebank House, it is alleged that she had a Black Sabre Spray containing CS and Capsaicin Pepper and that she had the noxious substances without the authority of the Secretary of State.

The final charge claims that she had an offensive weapon - two plant sprayers containing sulphuric acid - in her possession.

Thomson had her bail continued meantime.
