New sports partnership at Perth College UHI
Sports and fitness students at Perth College UHI can now benefit from a new community partnership.
Launched earlier this month, The Community Sport Hub Student Link Framework aims to increase and develop the sporting workforce across Perth and Kinross by providing opportunities for students at the college to use their practical skills to prepare them for employment after leaving college.
The new framework will not only benefit sports student, but will also work to develop Perth and Kinross community sport hubs.
Sharon McGuire, sport and fitness sector manager at Perth College UHI, said:“To ensure our students gain experience alongside gaining their qualification, we are focused on ensuring our college provision is industryfacing with significant elements of work experience and volunteering built into all courses.
“The need to increase and develop the local sporting workforce has been identified as a key aim across all community sport hubs within Perth and Kinross and the framework agreement provides us with a vehicle to address sustainable community sport.”
Kirsteen Ross, Perth and Kinross community sport hubs officer, added:“This framework is an excellent example of collaborative working. It provides clubs in sport hubs with an exciting opportunity to access a wide base of skilled volunteers from Perth College UHI that will support continued club growth, meet community need and develop new sports leaders for the future.” sportscotland’s Andrew Watson, Perth College UHI’s Catherine Etri and Sharon McGuire, Live Active Leisure’s Kirsteen Ross and Stephanie Eadon and Perth College UHI’s Gareth McKenna and Kelli Cochran-Sharp
