Jeanfield looking to upset the odds

Gunnion relishing Dundonald clash after cup win

- Sports Reporter

Jeanfield Swifts manager Ross Gunnion is looking forward to Saturday’s clash with Dundonald Bluebell.

The Perth side will travel to Fife to face the side who currently sit in second place.

And, off the back of a comprehensive cup win over Tranent last week, Gunnion has every faith his side can overcome the odds.

He said: “The players were buoyed by the victory and, in particular, the performance, so training has been good so far this week.

“However, we’re under no illusions about just how difficult going down to Dundonald and getting a result is.

“The positives are we’ve had two clean sheets in a row and there’s been a real determination and grit shown by players when we’ve been under pressure. If we can show the same resolve again on Saturday, I’m confident we can create chances.

“Dundonald are one of the form teams in the league this year and are proving very difficult to beat. They’re packed full of experience and are one of the biggest spending clubs in the Super League, so we know we’ll be facing quality opposition.

“That said, they are not without their weaknesses, and we will work hard to try and exploit those.

“We’ll need to ensure we stand up to the physical test they pose and if we do that, I’ve every confidence our players can move the ball quickly and exploit areas in their defence that perhaps lack pace.” Kick off is at 1.45pm in Ross Gunnion

Cardenden.

Elsewhere, Coupar Angus will be looking to bounce back from their Scottish Junior Cup exit to Arthurlie last weekend. Logan McConachie’s side will look to take the positives from the match into their league clash with league leaders Dundee Violet.
