PKAVS up for family friendly award

- Rachel Clark

PKAVS has been named as a finalist for a prestigious national award to recognise flexible working.

The Perth-based charity has been nominated for best third sector employer in next year’s Top Employers for Working Families Awards.

PKAVS has been shortlisted for its recent‘Carers Positive’ exemplary status and for being the first charity in Perth and Kinross to be a certified living wage employer.

The organisation was also nominated for being able to offer its employees flexible working hours, parental leave, and job-share positions.

Parents who work at the charity can also ask to work from home when they are unable to find last-minute childcare.

Paul Graham, PKAVS’s chief executive, said:“We in PKAVS believe all our people, staff and volunteers, should be helped to realise their potential.

“Our people are our greatest asset and we are committed to supporting their development and promoting a healthy work-life balance.

“We aim to promote and build upon an inclusive and understanding culture that allows for great flexibility tailored to each individual’s circumstances.”

He continued:“We look to help reduce any unnecessary stress or pressure that our staff may experience, and offer them the opportunity to fit their work into their existing lives rather than rearranging their lifestyle around their job.

“We see the rewards of the positive working environment we provide in the talents and efforts of the fantastic staff and volunteers that support our charity.”

PKAVS will now look to win the top prize at the working families awards at a glittering prize-giving ceremony in Glasgow on Thursday, March 22.
