Radio 1 star coming to Perth

Nick Grimshaw A top Radio 1 DJ is coming to the Fair City next year to headline a key date on the Perth Racecourse calendar.

Nick Grimshaw will be appearing at the Perth Festival from April 25-27.

The event will finish in style with a live set by the former X Factor judge to start the final night’s party.

Nick said: “I’m psyched to be coming up to Scotland to play again. It’s always an amazing atmosphere.

“The Perth Festival sounds like a really fun few days and I can’t wait to help get the party started on the Friday.”

Day one of the event will see the British Stallions Gold Castle EBF National Hunt novices’ hurdle and a handicap chase over two miles and four furlongs will headline Thursday’s fun.

The festival will end on Friday, April 27, with the prestigiou­s Highland National before Nick takes to the stage to entertain the crowds.

At three miles and six furlongs the Highland National is the longest race to be staged at Perth Racecourse all season.

Hazel Peplinski, chief executive of Perth Racecourse, said: “The special big party atmosphere created by the Perth Festival has helped establish it as one of the best days out in Scotland’s social calendar.

“So we’re thrilled to make 2018 even bigger and better with Nick Grimshaw from BBC Radio 1 on board to help us close the festival, which we are sure will be a big hit with the crowd.”

She continued: “The Perth Festival is three days rich with quality racing, no more so than with Friday’s Highland National, as well as live music, business networking opportunit­ies and the customary celebratio­ns after racing.

Three-day tickets for next year’s Perth Festival cost £50, with £3 off for early bird offers.
