Tourism team praised for inclusivity
The team behind a Perthshire self-catering house has been praised for embracing inclusive tourism.
Gamefield House in Crieff has been hailed by VisitScotland for catering for a wide range of customers, including those with additional support needs.
Gamefield House is accessible for people with mobility issues and is canine-friendly in a bid to ensure assistance dogs are welcome guests as well.
Jim Clarkson, regional director of VisitScotland, visited recently to see how Gamefield House is embracing inclusive tourism, and praised the team’s efforts for driving the industry forward.
Tracey Oates, house manager, said: “We feel that inclusive tourism is something we can also do well here at Gamefield.
“Our core business is in self-catering, and whilst we have been seeking new markets in weddings and day events, which are lucrative, our self-catering customers are very important to us.
“Ensuring that the house’s offering is fully inclusive is the best way to ensure growth in the sector for 2018.”
She continued: “The house offers the flexibility to all members of a family whatever their age or circumstance.
“For example, if a loved one needs their own space as a result of a medical condition, such as autism or dementia, their needs can be accommodated Owner William Frame, VisitScotland’s Jim Clarkson and house manager Tracey Oates
