opportunity to thank everyone for their good wishes.

I fully appreciate the honour I have been given to represent you as your Provost for the next five years.

The role includes being the civic head of the council, which is a nonpolitical role, and convener of the council.

As Provost I have met with a wide variety of people living in, and visiting, Perth and Kinross.

During the summer we had three royal visits in the space of 10 days.

I was presented to the Queen at Blackford, which was very special, Prince Edward in Perth, and Princess Anne in Dundee.

I also helped welcome the world’s media to the pairing of the Highland Perthshire village of Dull, with Bland in Australia and Boring in the US.

All in all a pretty Dull, Boring and Bland day!

In August, I saw the wonderful support that PKAVS staff offer carers and I am grateful to the chief executive of PKAVS for inviting me to join them for lunch in Blairgowrie and take part in their celebration.

Everyone was joining in with the singers who provided the entertainment and I even had a wee dance as well.

The carers then had an afternoon of much-needed respite knowing that their loved ones had been looked after.

Having the opportunity to meet with so many people who are involved in their communities across Perth and Kinross, in a wide variety of ways, is very rewarding.

It is also important to remember that although I may have many duties as Provost I am still an elected councillor for the Strathmore ward and will continue to represent local residents there as I have done so for the past ten years.

I hope you all had a Happy Christmas and wish you a guid healthy new year in 2018.
