- Rachel Clark

A Perth theatre group is celebrating after raising more than £860 for its upcoming show.

Ad-Lib Theatre Arts held a fundraising night at The Auld Hoose on Perth’s South Street on Friday last week and successfully managed to raise £866.10.

This comes straight off the back of the group’s successful Christmas panto ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, which was staged at Upper Springlands on the Fair City’s Isla Road for the first time in the build up to Christmas.

Those gathered at the fundraiser enjoyed a race night and a quiz which tested knowledge of what happened in 2017 and Christmas film titles, as well as a raffle – which featured scores of prizes donated by a number of individuals and businesses across the city.

Ad-Lib, which is based in Drummond House on Perth’s Scott Street, will now use the money raised to stage its next production, the Monty Python musical ‘Spamalot’.

Based on Monty Python’s classic 1975 film ‘The Holy Grail’, the show follows King Arthur as he travels around the land gathering his Knights of the RoundTable, before he is tasked with a divine mission to locate the illusive Holy Grail.

‘Spamalot’ is set to be performed by the group in April at the North Inch Community Campus, and promises rip-roaring comedy and iconic tunes

The cast of Ad-Lib’s Christmas production including ‘Brave Sir Robin’, ‘We’re Knights of the Round Table’ and ‘Always Look on the Bright Side of Life’.

The search is still on for ‘Spamalot’ cast members, particularly the male roles. Anyone interested is asked to contact by sending an email to admin@ad-libperth.co.uk
