Shire’s aim to steer away from relegation
Perthshire Rugby players will return from the festive period fresh and determined to steer away from relegation.
That was the message from captain Adam Pattinson as the Eagles prepare for Saturday’s trip to face Ardrossan Academicals.
Only two teams will be relegated from the BT National League Division 3 this season with Shire currently four points clear of the drop zone.
“We’ve had a bit of downtime over Christmas but the guys have been getting together for some gym sessions,”said Pattinson.
“There has been time for recovery and to get players back from injury ahead of training on Thursday.
“The season has been a bit stop-start. There has been a total mix of performances some highs, lows and average performances.
“We had a good run of results against the teams in the relegation fight. We’ve done well against our immediate challengers.
“The result away at Highland was a personal low point for me but our season will not be defined on games against them.”
Pattinson wants Shire to start nailing down more bonus points to ease their drop fears.
He expects a battle in North Ayrshire this weekend and
Captain Pattinson (on the ball) wants Shire to up the points flow in the coming weeks said:“Ardrossan are a good side and tough to break down.
“It’s not the easiest place to play and the weather is usually a factor.
“But we need to be better at taking points out of games. We’ve only picked up one bonus point in the first half of the season.”
Kick-off against Ardrossan is 2pm.
