Clark remains upbeat and looks to bounce back against St Boswells

- Ross Gardiner

Perthshire Rugby coach Alan Clark is looking to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to Ardrossan with a strong performance against St Boswells.

The Eagles will welcome the Borders side to Perth with the aim of ending their fine run of form, however Clark knows it will be a challenge.

He said:“In terms of the result, Saturday was a bit of a disappointment and to lose by eight points again meant we took nothing from the game to help our league standing. However, after a shaky start we did manage to match Ardrossan and I actually thought we outplayed them in a scoreless second half.

“The thing we were able to take from Saturday was belief in our ability to compete against teams above us in the league, which will be massive for us in the upcoming games. Ardrossan had the better of the game in the set piece but in almost all other areas we edged it so it gives us a real platform to work from and a focus for the next few weeks.

“St Boswells are always a difficult one to work out if, I’m honest. Week to week they can change massively so all we can do to prepare for them is focus on ourselves. A number of players come back into the fold this week from injury so we have some decisions to make in terms of selection for the weekend.

“Overall though, we’ll take last week as a stepping stone to getting the result we need on Saturday.” Alan Clark’s men will welcome St Boswells
