Locals urged to have their say on A9 dualling project

-

Members of group working to ensure that people in Highland Perthshire’s voices are heard during one of the largest infrastructure projects the country has ever seen have called on locals to air their views.

‘A9 Co-Creative’is encouraging members of the public living in the area from Birnam to Ballinluig to attend a round table event about the dualling process with Transport Scotland.

The Pass of Birnam to Tay Crossing section of the A9 is the most challenging stretch – from an engineering perspective – of the route to be dualled, with its close proximity to the Highland Mainline railway and Dunkeld and Birnam.

A‘co-creative process’will run until June, and is tasked with coming up with a preferred road design that meets the needs of both the local community and Transport Scotland.

During the January events those attending will have the opportunity to meet the A9 Co-Creative team, work together on ideas for preferred road and junction options and have their questions answered.

The next event will be taking place at Birnam Arts and Conference Centre, on Monday, January 29 from 7pm until 9pm. Alasdair Wylie, co-ordinator of the Birnam to Ballinluig A9 Community Group, said: “This huge infrastructure project will have a lasting impact on the people, environment and cultural heritage of this very special area.

“By working together with Transport Scotland, we are ensuring the community’s voice is heard throughout the process.

“This co-creative approach has never been done before, and it is a unique opportunity for local people to continue to be involved and have their say.”

If anyone is unable to attend the forthcoming events they can visit www. A9Co-Creative.scot where they can learn how to submit their ideas online.
