A successful fundraising night to boost Marie Curie
A fundraising night for Marie Curie was held at Crieff Hydro A successful fundraising night has been held in Crieff to raise money for Marie Curie.
The fundraising event took place in the Earn Room at Crieff Hydro on Sunday, January 21, with organisers hoping it will lead to a dedicated fundraising group being set up in the Strathearn town.
A number of people from the Crieff community attended the event to help the charity which cares for people living with terminal illnesses.
Speaking after the event, Mairi Clinton, Marie Curie’s community fundraiser for Perthshire, Tayside and Angus, said:“Tonight was such a successful evening. I’m so grateful to everyone who turned up to support Marie Curie.
“With this level of support, I hope we will be able to establish a thriving fundraising group here in Crieff before too long.”
The group is currently still looking for more volunteers to join the Crieff fundraisers.
Luke Graham, MP for Ochil and South Perthshire, attended the fundraising event at the weekend.
The Conservative representative said:“I was honoured to be asked to support Marie Curie as the work they do is so important.
“I first met with them last year to discuss this event, and I am delighted that it was such a successful evening.”
He added:“I am also pleased that they want to set up a fundraising group in Crieff and I will do everything I can to help support them in their work. I wish them all the best in their work here.”
