Pupils by royal appointment Crieff students meet Harry and Meghan
Harry and Meghan in Edinburgh earlier this week A delegation from Crieff High School were among guests invited to meet Prince Harry and fiancée Meghan Markle on the newlyengaged couple’s first official visit to Scotland on Tuesday.
The pair’s visit was part of a series of public engagements in the run-up to their wedding on May 19.
After a trip to Edinburgh Castle and a social enterprise cafe, the royal couple headed for Holyrood House for a reception to celebrate youth achievements, marking Scotland’s Year of Young People (YOYP) 2018.
Crieff High School is heavily involved with the initiative and its work earned two of its S4 pupils – Shannon McPhee and Jessica Murphy – along with Strathearn Community Campus head Christine Deeley and assistant community campus management officer Scott Jewell, who is also a YOYP ambassador, an invitation to the reception.
The gathering provided Prince Harry and his bride-to-be an opportunity to hear about the young people’s aspirations for the year and the activities they have been involved in so far.
Jessica said: “Prince Harry and Ms Markle were lovely.
“I could have talked to them all day. They seemed really interested in all our work and our Commonwealth theme. It was a great experience.”
Shannon added: “They were really down to earth and were really interested in the events we have planned for the year.”
