RSPB launch a new youth initiative

- Ross Gardiner

RSPB Scotland is on the hunt for youngsters, who love being outside, exploring and having fun, to sign up for an exciting new group.

Each month, RSPB Scotland forest school leaders will go on a journey into Quarrymill Woodland Park to explore and discover the wildlife that lives there along with the seasonal changes that take place throughout the year. They are looking for people to join them on their adventures as part of a new group.

This group, starting on Sunday February 18, aims to inspire and engage future generations to enjoy and care for the world we live in and the nature all around us while having fun.

The group is led and organised by Community Learning Officer, Miranda Shephard, who works with local school children and families in the woodland as part of the Growing up with Quarrymill project which is kindly funded by the Gannochy Trust.

She said:“Quarrymill is a great place for kids to get together with their friends and explore. I’m really excited about this new group. We’re going to slide down muddy slopes, splash in the burn and get up close to amazing wildlife, and that’s just for starters!”

The event, which runs from 1pm to 3.30pm, is free but places are limited, so booking is essential.
